Week 5: Round Up

Five weeks into the build....

....and now the slab has been poured and the conduits for services have been put in.  We've also had to install the man hole/cover to connect up to the main sewer which luckily runs adjacent to the house.
Next week should see the beam and block floors going in.

The site looked incredibly tidy when I viewed it today.  The builder, Peter Newton & his contractors are an incredibly tidy & organised bunch.

We spent a bit of time this weekend finalising kitchen designs and looking at sofas and dining tables.  We're talking to some interior designers next week too.

The schedule from the builder suggests that the house should be finished at the end of June 2015.  Let's see!

Hopefully we'll get rid of the old summer house some time soon.  I'm sick looking at it!

Week 4: Day 1

Block work commences

The block work for the slab started today.  Really exciting to see the house start to emerge from the ground after all the time in planning.

Lock Down!

The old garden starts to look like a proper building site now!

Visited the site today and for the first time I couldn't access it as it's now fully gated and fenced off.  Block work build starts next week.

Week 2 Update

The footings go in...

The trenches have been dug and foundations laid this week.

Now the basic layout of the downstairs is clearly visible - the hall, the bedrooms and utility room.
The next stage will be to bring the block work up to ground level and then to pour the slab.

Next week we'll formalise the kitchen design, flooring and exact house levels.
