Progress at end of Week 8

Another week of slow & steady progress before the building trade 'winter shut-down'.  The beam & block work has now been completed forming the base of the building.

We've also now placed the order for the Internorm Windows and are looking to finalise the kitchen order in early January too.

The Story so far...

So we're 8 weeks into the build now and the builders are taking two weeks off for the winter holidays.  Here's a link to a short (90 second)  Time Lapse Video that we made of the project to date.

Week 6 & 7 Update

Slower progress in weeks 6 & 7...

Not much happened of note in week 6 on site.

The measurements for steelwork were agreed allowing us to confirm exact size openings for windows and to place the order for the windows with Internorm (an Austrian Firm with a Scottish supplier).  These have a ten week lead time so they should arrive around about the time that the superstructure is completed.

The steelwork is currently being fabricated and should arrive onsite to be erected in the w/c 5th January 2015.

The plan is to finish the subfloor - beam & block work by 19 December 2014.

The scaffolding has started to be erected over the last few days too.

Unfortunately, in Scotland, the building trade more or less shuts down completely over the festive period so we'll have to turn our minds to interior design and picking up a few bargains for inside the house in the Boxing Day sales.
